Otsego Public Schools replaced a 50-year-old pool with a new natatorium facility that will be an addition not only to student athletics but to the greater community. This facility is approximately 30,000 sq ft with a total of 11 swim lanes. Three of the lanes are in the shallow areas for warm ups, swim lessons, aqua aerobics or other group activities. Eight of the lanes are available for competition. This facility is the largest spectator pool in Southwest Michigan.

Complex mechanical systems and state-of-the-art, multi-stage filtration systems were put into place to regulate the environment and prioritize health of those using the facilities. One of the first evacuator gutter systems was also installed. This new technology extracts congregated chloramines off the surface of the water through a surrounding vacuum system. This keeps the air chemical free and subsequently avoids any long term health risks associated with facility users.

The facility has a separate outdoor entrance for it to be open during the day for the community without accessing the high school. There are community and family locker rooms, community room for gatherings, concession stand, lobby seating on the upper and lower floors and a seating capacity for 500 spectators. This facility is the largest spectator natatorium in Southwest Michigan.

This facility is part of the district’s 2020 bond program.
