Construction Management Fast-tracked Occupied Campus Renovation

A major renovation took place at Case Hall on Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus during the 2011 school year. The renovated Case Hall has become the premier dining venue of the south neighborhood, home to more than 4,000 students.

The Case Hall project was centered on a complete remodel and expansion of the existing 450 seat cafeteria which has been transformed to a seven platform, 650 seat dining venue. Included in the intense renovation was the construction of a Sparty Convenience Store, coffee shop, and upgraded lobby areas. The student living corridors also received complete upgrades including fire alarm and protection, shower replacement, and all new corridor finishes.

Throughout design and estimating, Triangle utilized the latest technology and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to reduce conflicts, RFIs, and lower the overall cost of the project. During construction, Triangle coordinated with the major trade subcontractors to construct the project in 3D prior to the start of installations. This led to better schedule, cost and manpower control.

Case Hall was Triangle’s third consecutive project for Michigan State University’s Residential & Hospitality Services. Our developed relationships and successful project deliveries have built the confidence in our team to complete intense projects on time and under budget – exceeding the goals set by our client.
