A $32 million bond issue was approved in 2010 and addressed the needs of the district such as building repairs, technology upgrades and a new performing arts center. The stand-alone performing arts center enhances Jenison’s national recognition in music and performance and is an important cultural venue in the Jenison community. The $20 million fine arts venue houses 1,200 seats for viewing music and drama performances as well as a multi-purpose black box room, scene shop, rehearsal and dressing areas. The lobby of the performing arts center features spaces to display visual arts. The center replaces a 40-
year old high school auditorium. The building includes the district’s administration offices and board room.

Other significant needs included: technology and computer upgrades; a $250,000, 7,000 sq ft weight room renovation; additional school buses which replace older vehicles; replacement of worn carpeting; and $3.7 million in repair and maintenance of building roofs.
