Coopersville Athletic Complex
Triangle installed a new high school track with artificial turf, walking paths and field event areas. The scoreboard was relocated and the existing bleachers remodeled for better visibility and traffic flow.
The project goals consisted of completing the project on schedule and on budget. Triangle exceeded the owner’s expectations regarding schedule, budget and quality. The project team was able to work around challenging weather conditions (such as high winds) during laying of turf fabric and spraying of the track. Flexible schedules were utilized to keep the project on schedule. The project team was also able to make use of the fall and winter months to install the drainage system on a clay site rather than waiting for a wetter spring season.
Creative value engineering ideas were implemented to benefit the district throughout this project, which saved the district $167,200.
- Triangle separated the stone sub-base for the synthetic turf from the turf sub-contractor, saving $100,000.
- For a temporary road, the Triangle team utilized the asphalt sub-base of the existing track rather than putting in a temporary road, saving $27,200.
- A geo-textile fabric was used for the subsurface stabilization, saving the school $40,000.
In addition, a new community entrance, gate, concessions, team room and maintenance building has been designed and built by Triangle and was completed in August 2011.
