2004 Athletic Improvements
As part of the 2004 bond program, one of the largest school building programs in western Michigan in recent years, this 25-month project includes a new middle school and athletic stadium, and renovations and additions to the high school.
Outside sports facilities include basketball courts, softball field and soccer field.
The new athletic stadium, which took 13 months to complete, is composed of a new competition football field and a competition soccer field. Other items included in the complex is a team building with weight training room and personal locker rooms from officials, home and away coaches, an entry complex and a running track encompassing the competition football field. The complex also boosts practice fields for both soccer and football, field events for track and an enclosed press box.
Both competition fields are exactly to regulation and any record set at these fields are official and can be recorded with the state. The competition fields also have underground drainage systems that are used in many professional stadiums and can take about an inch of water an hour without flooding. The entire track is wired for an automatic timing system that can keep track of each lane individually.
