Pioneer Stadium

The Pioneer Stadium is comprised of a new regulation football field and soccer field. Other features include locker rooms for officials and coaches, public rest rooms, office space, concession area, 400 seat bleachers, and a 400 meter running track encompassing the field.

The site of the new sportsplex was purchased from Detroit Public Schools. The existing 75,000 square foot building on the site had to be demolished before before new construction could commence. During demolition the team had to eradicate asbestos in the old building and work through underground water issues. It was also discovered that the site was originally an old neighborhood and the team had to remove or completely fill-in other foundations throughout the site.

The entire project was completed in approximately 8 months, which was on schedule and within budget.
